Everything I Loved, Altered

Young/old woman Pictures, Images and Photos

I remember her as a loving woman
She smelled of peppermint and silk
Her hair was always perfect
Never a curl out of place.
Her hands were soft and warm
Always there to hold.
But after he died,
And rose to meet the stars face to face,
A part of her died too.
I don’t know where it disappeared to,
But peppermint was soon replaced by
Smoke and liquor.

  2. Oh, how tragic. Sometimes I feel as though that's what would happen to me, if I lost my husband. I know my Dad was totally adrift, though not with alcohol and tobacco but just so lonely. Yet, my Mother-in-law was very strong and managed to pull herself together and have a wonderfully happy life as a widow-reveling in her children and grandchildren and friends. It is so hard to know which way one will go. A moving and thought provoking post!
